University Apartments

Requirements

ResNet provides Internet access to University Apartments through special connection equipment (either clamshells or modems). This equipment includes:

If you live in College Courts (between West 30th and West 31st Street), Jennings Courts (on Jennings Dr.), or G Street of Hillside Courts, click here.

If you live in E and F Street of Hillside Courts, see the instructions below.

E and F Street of Hillside Courts Setup3

Each apartment is equipped with two jacks- one for phone and one for the ResNet equipment. You will need to plug one end of the phone cord into the orange data jack. The jacks are usually located on an inside wall in the apartment.

Click here to find the exact location of your data jack.

Plug the other end of the phone cord into the clamshell's Wall port. Do NOT plug anything into the Phone port on the clamshell, as this is not used. Plug one end of your network cable into one of the four ETH ports and the other end into your computer's network port. Finally, plug the small end of the AC adapter into the clamshell's PWR port and plug the other end of the cord into the nearest electrical outlet.

When the clamshell power is plugged in, the POWER and at least one of the ETH LED lights should turn green. After a short period of time (less than 30 seconds) the READY LED should turn green, indicating the device has communication with the switch. Your room's connection is now properly configured. The last step to getting your computer connected is to register it.

Registration

University Apartments residents must register their computer by finding their MAC address and using it to manually register (https://access.uni.edu/cgi-bin/resnetMan/man_register.cgi) their computer.
