AppleTV can connect both wirelessly and via Ethernet cable to the data port in your residence hall room.
To connect wirelessly, you'll need to connect via Ethernet first.

Connecting via Ethernet

Step One
Locate the device's MAC address. Open the main menu, select Settings > General > Network. On this screen, you should be able to see the MAC address listed as "Ethernet Address" or "Hardware Address." A MAC address looks something like this: 09:5A:43:02:6A:70.

Step Two
Once you have located the MAC Address, register it.

Step Three
Plug in your Ethernet cable to your AppleTV and to the data port located in the wall in your residence hall room. Once successfully registered and plugged in, you should be able to connect to the internet.

Connecting via WiFi

Step One
Before setting up for WiFi, turn on your Apple TV, connect it to Ethernet (see instructions above), and set the time and date. If not correct, it may cause errors later on in the process.

Step Two

For the next couple steps, you will need a computer running Apple Configurator. This is only available on Macs.

Download the profile for WiFi-UNI. Once downloaded, open Configurator and select the + sign as indicated in the image below. On the drop down menu, select "Import Profile" and locate the profile you downloaded.

Once imported, double click the name. Select WiFi on the left-side menu, and scroll down until you find "Username." Here, enter your CatID and then enter your CatID Passphrase under "Password."

Once done, hit "Save."

Step Three

Use a Micro-USB cable (sold separately) to connect the Apple TV to your computer.
NoteYour Apple TV must be connected to power before you connect the Micro-USB cable. If your Apple TV goes into recovery mode, disconnect power and the Micro-USB cable. Then reconnect the power cable, wait for the light to stop flashing, and follow the steps below.
1) The Apple TV Assistant will appear in Apple Configurator. If you do not see the Assistant, select it from the Window menu.
2) If you want to enroll the Apple TV in a mobile device management (MDM) service you can select a profile. Otherwise, choose "Don't Enroll."
3) Choose whether or not to install the latest version of Apple TV software.
4) Choose a name for the Apple TV (if desired) and set the language and diagnostics preferences. This will bypass the setup screen when the new software is installed.
5) Select the WiFi-UNI Profile from the list in Configurator.
6) Review your configuration choices and click Configure to apply them to your Apple TV.
7) Follow the prompts in Apple Configurator to restart your Apple TV if necessary.

Once this is done, you should be able to connect your Apple TV to WiFi-UNI! If you encounter any issues or have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
