AppleTV can connect both wirelessly and via Ethernet cable to the data port in your residence hall room.
Connecting via Ethernet
Locate the device's MAC address. Open the main menu, select Settings > General > Network. On this screen, you should be able to see the MAC address listed as "Ethernet Address" or "Hardware Address." A MAC address looks something like this: 09:5A:43:02:6A:70.
Once you have located the MAC Address, register it.
Plug in your Ethernet cable to your AppleTV and to the data port located in the wall in your residence hall room. Once successfully registered and plugged in, you should be able to connect to the internet.
Connecting via WiFi
Before setting up for WiFi, turn on your Apple TV, connect it to Ethernet (see instructions above), and set the time and date. If not correct, it may cause errors later on in the process.
For the next couple steps, you will need an Apple computer running the app called Apple Configurator.
Download the profile for WiFi-UNI. Once downloaded, open Configurator and select the + sign as indicated in the image below. On the drop down menu, select "Import Profile" and locate the profile you downloaded.
Once imported, double-click the name. Select WiFi on the left-side menu, and scroll down until you find "Username." Enter your CatID@uni.edu and then enter your CatID Passphrase under "Password."
Once done, choose "Save."
Note: Your Apple TV must be connected to power before you connect the Micro-USB cable. If your Apple TV goes into recovery mode, disconnect power and the Micro-USB cable. Then reconnect the power cable, wait for the light to stop flashing, and follow the steps below.
